Tensions have escalated to the point of boiling between Israel and Hezbollah, threatening to explode into an all-out war. Hezbollah reportedly launched a barrage of more than 100 rockets into northern Israel Sunday morning, Sept. 22, following an all-night Israeli bombardment of southern Lebanon. Some Hezbollah rockets landed in Haifa, while others targeted the Ramat David airbase, about 25 km to the southeast of Haifa. One target Hezbollah targeted specifically was the facilities of the Rafael defense firm, calling it retaliation for the wireless devices attack last week.

The Israeli military said that it carried out a wave of strikes across southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours, hitting about 400 Hezbollah sites. Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani, an Israeli military spokesman, said those strikes had thwarted an even larger attack, reported AP. Shoshani also claimed that hundreds of thousands of Israeli civilians in northern Israel are now sheltering in bomb shelters. “Today we saw fire that was deeper into Israel than before.”
