In what may come as a shock to many, the Muslim mayor of the first U.S. city to have an entirely Muslim city council has endorsed Donald Trump. “President Trump and I may not agree on everything, but I know he is a man of principles,” writes Mayor Ameer Ghalib. “I announce my support and endorsement for the former, and hopefully, the next President of the United States, Donald Trump.”
The two men had met on Sept. 17 when Trump was in the area for a rally in Flint. At the time, Trump had requested the Yemeni-American mayor’s endorsement, Ghalib told the Detroit News.
