While attending the summit of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) states in Moscow, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko was asked by journalists for his view of having Russian nuclear weapons on Belarussian soil. He responded:
“It strengthens the position we have held for quite some time…. The state border. If anyone trespasses our state border, [these weapons] will be used, if need be.”
