Bolivia Joins South Africa's ICJ Lawsuit against Israel’s Genocide in Gaza

Bolivia’s Ambassador to The Hague Roberto Calzadilla announced today that the government of President Luis Arce Catacora has joined South Africa’s case at the UN’s International Court of Justice against the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza. Bolivia submitted its official “Declaration of Intervention” at the ICJ on Oct. 8, in which it accuses Israel of “genocidal acts” in violation of the UN Genocide Convention.

Last November, Bolivia cut off diplomatic relations with Israel and denounced its slaughter of Palestinians. Today, reported y the Bolivian Information Agency, Ambassador Calzadilla emphasized that joining South Africa’s case at the ICJ “has allowed us to reaffirm our profound anticolonial commitment against discrimination, illegal occupation, to the right of self-determination and our obligation to defend against any crime of genocide—in this case in defense of the Palestinian people and their cause.”
