Dangote Refinery for Economic Development and Peace-Making in Africa

The huge Nigerian oil refinery, built by Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote, was given high praise for its impact on African economic development and potential for contributing to peace-making in Africa.

The Dangote Refinery has been lauded as a transformative force capable of reshaping Africa’s economic future. This was conveyed in a statement by the African Union High Representative For Silencing the Guns Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, issued following his visit to the 650,000 barrel/day refinery earlier this week.

“This is the kind of transformational project Africa needs. By creating jobs and providing affordable fuel for industries and transportation, the refinery will have a multiplier effect on national and regional economies,” Chambas said in the statement, reported Nigeria’s Punch newspaper. He added that such projects play a pivotal role in creating opportunities for youth and could serve as a pathway to silencing conflicts across the continent.

He also gave high praise to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu for “supporting the refinery’s operations.”
