In Germany’s three state parliament (Landtag) elections in September, many young voters cast their ballots for the rightwing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which put migration up front in its campaigns, along with the war danger; and for the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) party, which had stressed the war danger up front. A Shell survey was expected to provide some insights as to why that was the case. However, it observed that migration is far less an issue than war and economic depression for the young generation.
