Intense Diplomacy in Southwest Asia vs. War Drive, with Russia's Role Key

Intense diplomatic activity is taking place at various locations in Southwest Asia and in Russia, as these nations grapple with the extraordinary threats of regional or generalized war, with Israel’s relentless “breakaway ally” insanity and with the U.S. complicity at the UN Security Council in allowing the slaughter to continue against Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria.

Today, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a joint press conference in Doha with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani, that his government doesn’t seek war, but that Israel forces it to react, reported Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). He pointed out that at a time when Iran was showing restraint, Israel intensified its attacks and Tehran called on the U.S. and Europe to urge Israel to stop its killing spree.

Today In Tehran, Ali Akbar Velayati, an advisor on international affairs to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ali Khamenei, met with Alexander Lavrentiev, President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy for Syria. According to IRNA, the two talked about bilateral cooperation in addition to updates on the regional situation, Gaza, and the crises in Lebanon and Syria. Velayati referred to Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians, and attacks on Lebanon and Syria, “with the backing of the U.S. and some other Western countries.”
