The ranking by U.S. platform “IseeCars” has Japanese manufacturers, and Toyota in particular, clearly dominating a global list of 25 long-life car models that can work for 400,000 km or more. The top five places are all occupied by Toyota models. The top three are the Toyota Tundra pickup, the Toyota Sequoia SUV, and the Toyota 4Runner. Germany was unable to place a car in the top 25.
If the survey is true, Germany has this longevity problem along with affordability. The e-cars in Europe are priced in the range of €30-60,000. German carmakers decided not to build standard models of e-cars. So customers prefer less fancy cars at affordable prices produced in China to high-priced ones produced in Germany.
