During the Friday press conference with media representatives of BRICS nations, Vladimir Putin made clear that Russia remains open to talks to end the war in Ukraine, as long as the effort is sincere. “We have just spoken about the possibility of peace talks. We are all for it. I described how it could be implemented. If this is a totally earnest stance that both sides adhere to, then the sooner the better,” he said.
However, Putin then pointed out what is lying in the way of such a development. He described how NATO has been increasing its involvement in Ukraine, with evermore technologically advanced equipment requiring evermore direct assistance by the West. “NATO is fighting us, but they are fighting this proxy war using Ukrainian soldiers,” he pointed out.
