In an interview reported by Politico, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Prince Khalid bin Bandar al Saud, mildly criticized the American “demand” upon Israel’s government to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. “In the past we have seen the United States make promises it didn’t fulfill, and it ended up in disaster. Vis-à-vis this conflict, the ramifications of not following through with what you say are much greater,” Politico quotes Khalid telling the “Power Play” podcast. He added, “From the outside, it looks like the Israelis are not listening, and that’s not what friends do. But eventually, if you put your foot down, this elicits a response.”
Khalid also commented on Saudi-Iranian relations, about an alleged Iranian “threat to the region.” “We have had our differences with Iran,” the Prince said, “But I think we are pretty aligned at the moment, to de-escalate this situation.”
