British daily The Telegraph published the allegation by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson that his highly restricted bathroom was bugged with a listening device; and he points to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the likely culprit for placing the bug in his private toilet. He writes in his memoir entitled Unleashed, now being serialized in The Telegraph, that a U.K. security team found it shortly after Netanyahu managed to make a trip to the bathroom.
The incident occurred in 2017, when Johnson was the U.K.’s Foreign Secretary. He described a fancy bathroom for the minister’s private use located in a “secret annex,” one similar to what “the gents in a posh London club” have. “Thither Bibi [Netanyahu] repaired for a while, and it may or may not be a coincidence but I am told that later, when they were doing a regular sweep for bugs, they found a listening device in the thunderbox.”
