The North Sea is the operating area for this year’s Steadfast Noon NATO nuclear exercise. The U\SS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group entered the North Sea this week, Newsweek reported yesterday but according to U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, the carrier and its four escort ships will not be participating in the nuclear exercise. “The strike group will conduct operations in the North Sea with allies and partners from several countries in the region, demonstrating the warfighting interoperability and strategic relationships built over the past eighty years,” the U.S. Navy said in a news release.
