China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke by phone with the foreign ministers of Israel and Iran on Oct. 14, Global Times reports. Wang told Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz that China called for an immediate, complete, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and for the release of all hostages. Wang told Katz that China considers all lives to be precious, regardless of nationality or ethnicity. Countering violence with violence will not lead to a solution, he said. The Palestinian issue is a core issue in the region, and two States of Israel and of Palestine as a solution is the way forward. He also called for Israel to preserve the safety and operation of UN personnel operating in southern Lebanon.
