Will Biden’s ‘Swan Song’ Be To Approve Ukraine’s Entry into NATO?

The Oct. 1 Financial Times floated the possibility that President Joe Biden would use his chairing of the Ramstein Ukraine support group meeting in Germany on Oct. 12, to give a green light for Ukraine to join NATO and for the deployment of precision-guided long-range NATO missiles on Ukrainian territory.

There are “tentative signs that Biden might agree to advance the status of Ukraine’s NATO membership bid before he leaves office in January,” a Western official told FT. On that occasion, Zelenskyy will again press his case for “permission” to use NATO long-range missiles to strike deep into Russian territory. “It’s about constraining Russia’s capabilities” a senior Ukrainian official told FT. “It’s a real chance if we are thinking about resolving this war.”
