WHO Demands Israel Must Halt Attacks on Lebanon Healthcare

The World Health Organization news release today stated: “WHO calls for attacks on health care to stop. Health care should be protected at all times. Peace is the only solution.” WHO’s release states that there have been 23 confirmed Israeli attacks on health infrastructure in Lebanon in the last three weeks of fighting.

IDF assaults have caused 9 hospitals to close or cease functioning, killed 72 health workers, injured 43 health workers, and damaged 13 ambulances and other medical vehicles. The remaining facilities are understaffed, overcrowded, and under-resourced. The medical staff, often working without sleep, has been traumatized by the indiscriminate violence, and is struggling to maintain basic services. Especially hard hit are the facilities in the south, where even 100 out of 207 clinics and dispensaries are closed. Dialysis centers that are still operating are working three shifts per day and lack simple supplies of blood testing equipment and staff.
