Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un exchanged messages on Oct. 6, marking the occasion of the 75th anniversary of their mutual relations. In his message, Xi said that China is ready to promote “the stable and further advance of the socialist cause in the two countries.” Xi Jinping stressed that he highly values the development of China-D.P.R.K. relations, noting that in recent years, he has met with General Secretary Kim Jong Un multiple times and maintained close communication through letters and messages, jointly guiding and promoting the in-depth development of China-D.P.R.K. relations.
Kim, in turn, said: “Over the past 75 years, the two parties and countries have upheld their firm belief in the legitimacy of their causes, overcoming various tests and challenges, and advancing courageously on the path of socialism. It is in the fundamental interests of both countries to continuously carry forward and develop the D.P.R.K.-China friendship with a time-honored history and fine tradition.” He added that North Korea would “steadily strive to consolidate and develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the D.P.R.K. and China as required by the new era.”
