China Has Shaped the G20 To Focus on Development

A Global Times report on the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil describes China’s role in shifting the focus of the G20, beginning in the G20 meeting in Hangzhou in 2016, when China, the host, “placed development at the core for the first time, effectively promoting the G20’s shift from focusing on economic issues to addressing a diverse range of topics, including development. This trend continues to this day.”
