The Finland National Bureau of Investigation said it has “decided to open a criminal investigation into the damage caused to the sea cable between Finland and Germany. The suspected criminal act is currently investigated as aggravated criminal mischief and aggravated interference with communications ... but these may change as the investigation progresses. The police will be releasing information on the progress of the criminal investigation at a later date.”
The ship is the Yi Peng, reportedly captained by a Russian national. It has been detained in the Kattegat Bay by a Danish naval vessel, which forced it to anchor.
