Retired U.S. Army Col. Douglas Macgregor has energetically opposed having the U.S. continue to pour weapons into the war in Ukraine and Israel’s extermination campaign in Gaza, and the United States’ permanent war policy in general. Three days ago, for example, his activist group, “Our Country Our Choice,” posted a clip of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov outlining a peace proposal for Ukraine, and asked: “Will the West accept it?”
The day before the U.S. election, however, Colonel Macgregor went further, and proposed that the United States should adopt a different policy: To join the rest of the world in building great infrastructure projects that create opportunities for business and trade. Instead of wars, the U.S. should look to what the BRICS are doing, what China is doing with its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and do likewise. He defied the uniparty mantra, and stated flatly, China’s BRI is not a military project!
