The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), Nov. 5-10, held annually in Shanghai, is generating great enthusiasm and a sense of optimism among the Chinese and the many foreign attendees participating in this event. The CIIE is seen as a critical platform to reach the vast Chinese market and showcase its market prospects, Global Times noted, and many global businesses welcome the opportunity to explore and expand in the Chinese market. A total of 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions are attending this year’s expo.
In his keynote to CIIE’s opening session yesterday, Premier Li Qiang emphasized that China has kept its commitment to opening up measures. At the Nov. 5 Foreign Ministry briefing, spokeswoman Mao Ning emphasized Li Qiang’s remarks that opening up should be based on shared interests, unhindered by the zero sum or winner-take-all mentality. Li underscored, she said, that “China is ready to further open up its mega-sized market, including taking unilateral opening up measures, to share its development opportunities with all countries, and make the big market of China a great opportunity for the world.” Opening up, he added, will be successful if it is approached from the standpoint of “embracing our shared future.”
