Israel’s destruction of Lebanon and the Palestinian territories continues without letup. Emblematic of the Israeli campaign is the Israel Defense Forces demolishing the UNRWA office in the Nur Shams refugee camp in the West Bank town of Tulkarem on Oct. 31. “Israeli bulldozers brought down the building, through which the UN agency runs the daily needs of residents,” Nehad al-Shaweeh, who heads a local service committee in the camp, told Türkiye’s Anadolu Agency. “The building was partially damaged during previous Israeli raids and today it was completely demolished by Israeli forces,” he added.
Anadolu observes that the building was destroyed three days after the Knesset passed legislation banning UNRWA’s activities in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza.
In Lebanon, AP reported today that Israeli airstrikes demolished “dozens” of buildings in Beirut’s Dahiya neighborhood, while at the same time Israel has intensified its airstrikes on the northeastern city of Baalbek and nearby villages, and also on different parts of southern Lebanon. Casualties are not reported but Lebanon’s Heath Ministry said more than 2,800 people have been killed and 13,000 wounded since Oct. 8, 2023.
