Italian Minister Slams EU E-Mobility Policy as ‘Satanic’

There is a “boulder about to fall” on European industry , Italian Economic Development Minister Adolfo Urso said, speaking at the meeting on “The Importance of Infrastructure” organized by the daily Il Tempoon Nov. 19. Urso was referring to the coming EU emission regulations which, from Jan. 1, 2025, introduce a cap of 93.6 gr./km CO2 for vehicles. Carmakers, in an attempt to meet those regulations and avoid heavy fines, will reduce production, ultimately closing factories.

Urso said: “Think of the paradox, electric cars made with a religious outlook that becomes satanic.” In short, we must act to counter the “paradox of green.” “On automakers a resounding sting is coming. Fines of up to €17 billion for those who do not produce a certain amount of electric cars. Companies like Volkswagen and Stellantis risk being brought to their knees. And they are finding alternative solutions to avoid this cut-off,” Urso said.
