The urgent meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, to deal with Russia’s new hypersonic missile, the Oreshnik, was announced shortly after the Nov. 21 attack on Ukraine’s Yuzhmash military factory, to convene on Nov 25 in Brussels. Over the weekend, that meeting got pushed to Nov 26, and today it appears that the NATO-Ukraine Council is not going to take up the issue at all. Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, indicated that the meeting, instead, will be about support for Ukraine in general, its normal order of business.
Also today, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that the discussion on the challenge posed by the Oreshnik, “upon Ukraine’s urgent request,” will occur at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe on Nov 27. His posting on X reads: “Russia poses the greatest threat to security in the OSCE region… We will use every international platform and mechanism to increase global pressure on the aggressor.”
