Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) member and CIA veteran Larry C. Johnson expressed his own thesis regarding Biden’s “strike deep into Russia” decision, in a Nov. 20 article, “Is Biden Trying To Start a War To Prevent Trump from Being Installed as President?” on his Sonar21. Johnson’s view is that “The title of this article is a question worth asking,” he writes in his opening sentence. “Unnamed Biden officials admitted to the New York Times earlier this week that the ATACMs would not alter the course of the war. In other words, it is a useless tactical measure. Ditto for strategic effect. The U.S. does not have enough ATACMs in its inventory to inflict significant damage on Russian military or economic infrastructure. So what is the purpose?” Johnson asked in his posting. “Score a PR victory for Ukraine? Exonerate Biden of any claim that he did not do everything in his power to help Ukraine? Or, is it something darker and more nefarious?”
