Lavrov: Africa Freeing Itself From Neocolonial Oppression

After freeing itself from colonialism in the last century, Africa is now freeing itself from Neocolonialism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a presentation before a group of freshman diplomats.

“When Africa woke up from colonial oppression, it was a powerful movement. I have a feeling that there is now a second awakening of Africa, from neo-colonial oppression, from practices that hinder its development,” he said.

Citing discussions at the meeting of foreign ministers at the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, held on November 9 and 10, Lavrov added: “Africa no longer agrees to remain a source of raw materials that are bought and exported mainly to the West.”

Lavrov decried the fact that all technology-intensive processing is done outside Africa, which condemns the continent “to keeping a subordinate position.” It also loss of potential jobs as well as the added value and all the associated profits . https://tass.com/politics/1871463
