In a lengthy article for RT’s Germany, Rainer Rupp, who participated earlier this year at meetings of the International Peace Coalition (IPC), which was initiated by the Schiller Institute, reported on Scott Ritter’s latest urgent appeal at the Nov. 22 IPC meeting against the danger of nuclear war. “Scott Ritter, former UN weapons inspector and U.S. intelligence officer, gave a powerful speech at the international Schiller Institute conference with worldwide distribution. With blunt urgency, he warned of the acute danger of a nuclear conflict that could be triggered by NATO’s escalation against Russia... ‘We are closer to nuclear war than we have ever been before,’ Ritter explained.”
After quoting from Ritter’s appeal at length, Rupp concludes:
“Ritter argued that the voice of the people is the only remaining force capable of stopping the escalation. The urgency of his words is a wake-up call to humanity not to ignore the impending catastrophe. He emphasized that the coming weeks and months could be decisive—not only for the outcome of the conflict in Ukraine, but for the survival of humanity as a whole.
“In view of this immense, real danger, Ritter sees only one solution: mass mobilization and public pressure. He called on people to come to a demonstration in Washington, D.C., on December 7, 2024, to send a clear signal against the escalation. Under the hashtag #SayNoToNuclearWar, he is calling on people around the world to join the protest in local actions and to critically scrutinize their governments’ policies.
“‘This is the fight of our lives,’ Ritter explained. ‘If we lose, we all die. That’s not a metaphor, it’s reality.’”
