Russia is ready for talks for a lasting peace in Syria with the incoming Administration of President-elect Donald Trump, talks that will involve all concerned parties, Russian presidential envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev told TASS.
“They have been playing and will continue to play a major role. Naturally, their opinion needs to be taken into account and, naturally, it will be necessary to speak with them. Well, Trump is known for his love for various deals, so, let us wait and see what he can propose on this track,” he said. “We are ready for that. We have never been dodging communication with our American partners, as they used to be, we stay open. He added: “It is practically impossible to establish peace in Syria only, without taking into account what is going on in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, as well as in relations between Israel and Iran. Everything must be addressed together. So, let us hope that all the parties will be involved, and all of them must demonstrate certain flexibility.”
