Trump Picks Critic of Federal Agencies’ COVID Response for FDA Head

President-elect Donald Trump announced his nomination for the Food and Drug Administration Commissioner role on Nov. 22 in a post on Truth Social: Dr. Marty Makary, a British-American professor of surgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

During COVID-19 and beyond, Makary criticized the blanket vaccination mandate, and has promoted the idea of “herd immunity” instead; in other words, to let those unable to fight the infection be left to die.
