The future national security adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, Mike Waltz, said that in a Nov. 26 interview with CNBC that Trump will be focused on a solution to the Russi-Ukraine war. “The President [Trump] has been crystal clear that he sees this conflict… as needing to come to an end. I think the question now… is, how do we drive that deal? How do we drive all sides to the [negotiating] table, who’s at that table, and then what are the broader frameworks of [the deal],” he said. He compared the scope of the tragedy to World War One, describing it as “trench warfare” with hundreds of thousands of victims.
