Türkiye’s Erdoğan Asserts Trump Could Easily End Ukraine War

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke to a press pool on his return flight from Budapest on Nov. 8, telling journalists: “We can easily end this war if we see a Trump administration that approaches the issue with a solution-based perspective. More dialogue, diplomacy, agreement will open the door to peace, not weapons, bombs and conflict,” reported Reuters.

TASS likewise quoted further comments by Erdogan: “‘More weapons, more bombs, or more chaos will not end this war…. More dialogue, more diplomacy, and more compromise would open the door to peace,’ he said, recounting how Türkiye has repeatedly brought the two conflicting sides to the negotiating table. ‘We have done so many times and we will do so again. This war must be ended now. As we focus our efforts to achieve peace, we will continue working in this direction,’ he concluded.”

President-elect Trump had stated during his campaign that he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours, but has not yet elaborated on a plan.
