One of the most visible manifestations of the militarization of U.S. foreign policy is the deployment around the globe of U.S. bombers, including nuclear-capable aircraft, whenever there’s a spike in tensions. The last 24 hours have seen three deployments announced or underway to different parts of the globe.

The United States reacted to North Korea’s recent ICBM test by sending a B-1B bomber to participate in air exercises with the South Korean and Japanese air forces. Today, the U.S. flew that B-1B bomber to train with South Korean and Japanese fighter jets near the Korean Peninsula, demonstrating the three countries’ firm resolve and readiness to respond to North Korea’s advancing nuclear and missile programs, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement, reported AP.
