British Intelligence Whitewashed Syria’s HTS Terrorists

The main facilitator in transforming Syria’s Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) from an al-Qaeda-linked terror group into ostensibly His Majesty’s friendly Islamic terrorists, has been British Foreign Office veteran Jonathan Powell, who has been a controller of HTS and its leader Abu Muhammad al-Jawlani (al-Jolani) since at least 2017.

Jonathan Powell is the younger brother of Charles Powell, who was the private secretary to Conservative Party Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major, whereas Jonathan had been Chief of Staff to Labour Party Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, and is now Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s National Security Advisor. The brothers duo have been Queen Elizabeth’s Foreign Office controllers of these five prime ministers, playing a key role in all of Her Majesty’s endless wars, including the first Gulf War between Iran and Iraq through Gulf War II and III, and the Yugoslav war.

Jonathan Powell left government in 2008, and in 2011 he created Inter Mediate, a conflict management consultancy, where he mediated the peace deal between the Colombian government and the narco-terrorist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). In 2014, Tory Prime Minister David Cameron designated Powell as special envoy to Libya. In 2015 he served as a consultant for the Turkish government in its attempt to forge a settlement with the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK).
