Curfew in Syrian Cities Homs, Jableh and Latakia Amid Protests

Syrian authorities have imposed curfews in the cities of Homs, Jableh and Latakia following clashes between the armed opposition groups and local protesters the Sham FM radio station reported on Dec. 25, citing the cities’ authorities and the police. In Latakia, a Syrian source told Sputnik that several days ago, armed men had set on fire the shrine of Alawite Sheikh Abu Abdullah Al-Hussein Al-Khasibi in Aleppo, who lived in the 10th century, which triggered protests among the local population. Homs military administration officers opened fire on protesters, killing at least one civilian and injuring four, the source added.

There were also clashes in the coastal city of Tartus between members of the HTS administration’s Interior Ministry and protesters. In addition to the protests against the attack on the shrine, demonstrators in the city of Masyaf, located in the northwestern countryside of Hama, condemned the assassination of three Alawite judges, just a day before.
