Germany Pushes ‘Guns, Not Butter’ with €21 Billion More for Military

While the opposition Christian Democrats and Free Democrats have stated their intent not to approve any legislation of the lame duck government of outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz, they did approve an ambitious military procurement in the range of €21 billion. The single largest funding goes to four new submarines at the total cost of €5 billion. The last of the 38 procurement projects is to be realized by 2030.
