The National Farmers Union (NFU) today issued a statement on the appeal it is making to Congress, headlined “NFU Calls on Congress to Deliver Immediate Economic Relief.” The statement quotes NFU President Rob Larew: “We urge Congress to take swift action by passing a Farm Bill and economic relief before the year’s end, and to prioritize bipartisan negotiations to deliver a comprehensive five-year Farm Bill as soon as possible in 2025.”
Larew acknowledged that Congress is “indicating that it will not pass a renewed five-year Farm Bill before the end of the year.” Therefore, he says, “it is even more essential to provide substantive assistance to commodities [producers] impacted by current economic challenges.”
