John Bolton, the neo-con war hawk whom President Donald Trump foolishly made his National Security Advisor from 2018-2019, has come out swinging—again—against his former boss. In [remarks to London’s The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/dec/24/donald-trump-john-bolton-crisis-likely], Bolton warns that “the risk of an international crisis of the 19th century variety is much more likely in a second Trump term.”
Why? “He doesn’t have a philosophy, doesn’t do policy as we understand that, he doesn’t have a national security strategy…. He doesn’t know much about foreign policy. He’s not a big reader. He reads newspapers from time to time but briefing papers are almost never read.”
