Andrey Kaprin, the General Director of the Radiology Medical Research Center of the Russian Ministry of Health, announced that Russia has developed a mRNA vaccine against cancer, which will be distributed to patents free of charge, reported TASS on Dec. 14. The planned launch date for the vaccine is early 2025. “Earlier, Director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Gintsburg told TASS that the vaccine’s pre-clinical trials had shown that it suppresses tumor development and potential metastases.”
The website for the National Medical Research Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation explains that it is taking a two-pronged approach to vaccines against cancer. One is an oncolytic vaccine, EnteroMix, which is “based on a combination of four non-pathogenic viruses that have the ability to destroy malignant cells and simultaneously activate the patient’s antitumor immunity … the antitumor effect varies from slowing tumor growth to its complete destruction.…”
The second tactic is the development of personalized mRNA vaccines, which work at the molecular level. This method is based on an individualized approach: “based on the genetic analysis of each patient’s tumor, a unique vaccine is created that can ‘teach’ the immune system to recognize cancer cells.…”
A particularly effective vaccine against nine particular types of cancer (including cervical and vaginal) has been a human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, known under its trade name of GARDASIL 9, which works by introducing virus-like particles (VLPs) (via a shot) that mimic the HPV virus but are not infectious. This tricks the body into thinking it’s been exposed to HPV, which triggers the immune system to produce antibodies.
The National Cancer Institute in the United States has noted that “Clinical trials have shown that HPV vaccines are highly effective in preventing cervical infection with the types of HPV they target when given before first exposure to the virus—that is, before individuals begin to engage in sexual activity. HPV vaccines have also been found to reduce infections in other tissues that HPV infects….”
Aaron Siri, an attorney for Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., has created an uproar in the medical community and beyond, when representing “the Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN) in petitions asking the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) “’to withdraw or suspend approval of vaccines not only for polio, but also for hepatitis B,’” the New York Times reported on Dec. 13. President-elect Trump has nominated Kennedy to become Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Thanks to vaccines, the diseases that have been eradicated are smallpox and rinderpest; a disease is deemed eradicated once it has been wiped out worldwide. Diseases that have been “eliminated”—in which their has been stopped in a specific region due to deliberate efforts—are polio, measles, tetanus, flu, hepatitis B, mumps, chickenpox and malaria.
