Last night, the head of Russia’s Radiological Chemical and Biological Defense Forces, Gen.-Lt. Igor Kirillov, was assassinated in a bombing at a residential building in Moscow. Kirillov was noted for his reports of chemical weapons activity by the U.S. and Ukraine, along with the U.S. network of biolaboratories in Ukraine. Russia’s Investigative Committee announced that the blast had killed Kirillov, along with another man, his driver and/or aide.
It follows shortly after last week’s Moscow assassination of Mikhail Shatsky, the deputy general designer and head of the software department at Moscow’s Mars Design Bureau, a part of Rosatom. Ukrainian publications reported that HUR head Kyrylo Budanov ran the operation.
There are reports that the explosion that killed Kirillov, as described by RT, was “caused by a remotely controlled improvised explosive device attached to an electric scooter parked near the entrance, which was detonated as the two were leaving the building. According to Baza and Mash Telegram channels, the second victim was his aide.”
