The Changing Characteristics of China's Labor Force

The average age of China’s working age population increased from 32.25 years in 1985 to 39.72 years in 2022. The average age of the labor force in China has been increasing almost every year since approximately 1990.

The average years of education in the country’s labor force increased from 6.14 to 10.88 years from 1985 to 2022. (Today, approximately one-quarter of the labor force are college educated.)
