The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement this morning reporting that Ukrainian forces launched a long-range strike against a military airfield in Taganrog, in the Rostov region. “In the course of proceedings, it has been reliably established that six U.S.-made ATACMS ballistic missiles have been used,” the statement said, adding that two missiles were shot down while the others were countered by means of electronic warfare. The statement also indicated casualties among military personnel as well as light damage to two buildings and civilian motor vehicles, all from falling fragments of the missiles.
“This attack by Western-made long-range weapons will not remain unanswered, and appropriate measures will be taken,” the Defense Ministry statement concluded.
