Zelenskyy Meets in Paris with Georgia’s Outgoing President Zourabichvili

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Paris yesterday with Georgia’s lame-duck President Salome Zourabichvili. She is presently neck-deep in an effort to stage a “2014 Maidan” coup in Tbilisi, to overturn a massive (16%) election defeat. By Georgia’s Constitution, a new President is supposed to be chosen next week, however Zourabichvili has indicated she won’t leave office. Zelenskyy recently announced sanctions against Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and 18 other leaders, promising “concrete actions” to restore democracy in Georgia. Zelenskyy, of course, retained his office by extending martial law and cancelling elections in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy declared yesterday: “Ukraine supports and stands in solidarity with the Georgian people, who are now defending a decent future for themselves. It is important to always respect the opinion of the people [but not their vote!] and prevent [former Prime Minister] Ivanishvili’s government from handing over the country to Putin.” The government is actually that of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who was easily re-elected—but Zelenskyy might have had an issue with giving the proper name of someone who actually stands for and wins elections.
