German AfD Party Votes Give CDU Motion on Migration a Majority

A motion by the Germany’s Christian Democrats for a bill on tightened migration control, which otherwise would not have had a majority in the Bundestag, passed by 348-344, thanks to the votes from the Alternative for Germany (AfD). By accepting this vote, the CDU/CSU broke their proclaimed taboo against talking to or cooperating with the AfD. The motion calls for permanent border controls with all neighboring countries and an entry ban for all people without valid entry documents, even if they make a request for protection.
