The Wall Street Journal opened its pages Jan. 8 to an ugly proposal by Amit Segal, the chief political analyst for Israel’s Channel 12 News and Yedioth Ahronot, said to be one of Israel’s most influential journalists, that “Annexing Parts of Gaza Is the Way to Unleash ‘Hell’ on Hamas.”
Segal admits the IDF had already “unleashed hell on Gaza” (his words), but he objects that the Palestinian people refuse to rise up against Hamas. Since merely killing more Gazans will not work, he has two suggestions.
First, that Donald Trump should “honor Mr. Blinken’s promise” (take note) that humanitarian aid should only be allowed into the Gaza Strip if it is brought “by the IDF or private entities with the ability to ward off Hamas terrorists.” Such a restriction would grant the IDF power to impose a full siege over all of Gaza.
