China’s already-impressive rail infrastructure took another leap forward in 2024. At the close of the year, China was operating 162,000 km of rail, of which 48,000 km (30,000 mi) are high-speed. This was after having spent 850.6 billion yuan ($117 billion) on rail infrastructure in 2024. The news was announced by China Railway during an annual conference on Jan. 2, reported Global Times.
