Germany Prosecuting Three Men Allegedly Spying on U.S. Military Bases for Russia

Three men, who are identified as German-Russian nationals, have been arrested and are being prosecuted by German authorities after being caught allegedly surveilling a NATO training base in Grafenwöhr. Identified only as Dieter S., Alexander J. and Alex D., they were charged Dec. 9 in the Munich Higher Regional Court of working for a foreign intelligence agency, according to Stars and Stripes.

Two of the men were originally arrested in April. They were apparently surveilling the Grafenwöhr base with the intention of “disrupting NATO logistical support to Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia.” The third, Alex D. remains at large.
