The yearly unemployment rate for 2024 was 6% in Germany, 0.3% higher than in 2023, according to the German Federal Labor Agency. The number of unemployed rose by an annual average of 178,000 to a total of 2.787 million. Part-time work also increased, rising from 241,000 in 2023 to around 320,000 in 2024.
This development has also been addressed in a new book by Wolfgang Bittner, a senior voice against Anglo-Saxon political and economic control of Germany who has also spoken at Schiller Institute events. Under the headline, “Germany Is Being Ruined—But the Reasons Are Being Kept Secret,” Bittner wrote in a Jan. 2 article for RT’s German site that “it is time to end the permanent state of emergency in Germany.” Bittner went on: “It’s amazing what’s happening before our eyes. 22,400 corporate insolvencies in 2024, mass layoffs, short-time work, companies moving to other countries. Now the parties have published their election programs, and they want to revive the economy above all. But there is silence about the actual causes of the economic decline; the same applies to the trade unionists and entrepreneurs.
“There is also silence about the originator of the threatening wars and crises. As if the United States did not exist, scheming, fanning the flames, dividing, intervening everywhere in the world for decades and is about to spark a third world war. Not a word about the fact that Germany is being systematically de-industrialized, that it has been cut off from a reliable, low-cost energy supply from Russia by the blowing up of the Baltic Sea pipelines….
