Dr. Thabat Saleem, a neonatal doctor at Al Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza, was killed overnight by an Israeli strike on the house she was, in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Middle East Eye reports that the hospital where 30-year-old Dr. Saleem worked announced her death, writing: “The management and staff at the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital mourn the death of our colleague proudly and with honor, Dr. Thabat Saleem, who was martyred as a result of [Israel’s] aggression, God bless her and accept her as a martyr.”
Dr. Muneer Alboursh, the director general of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, mourned the physician in a post on X and praised her for her work during Israel’s year-long war on Gaza. “She worked tirelessly for nearly a year before being martyred moments ago as a result of an Israeli occupation forces air strike on a home in Al-Nuseirat refugee camp,” he said.
Dr. Saleem was only the latest victim of Israel’s relentless campaign of genocide against the population of Gaza. Al Jazeera, on its update page this morning reports that Israeli forces are attacking densely populated areas across Gaza, killing at least 14 Palestinians overnight and 31 in the past 24 hours. They also report an 8th Palestinian infant has died of hypothermia in the Gaza Strip, where families are enduring a harsh winter as Israel continues to restrict the entry of humanitarian aid, including blankets and tents.
