“After research and study, the drones flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons. Many of these drones are hobbyist and recreational drones,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said during her Jan. 29 press conference. “This was not the enemy.”

One of the most comical comments on the drones during the December peak of hysteria about them came from Congressman Jeff Van Drew. He claimed that high-level sources told him that Iran had launched a “mothership,” which they stationed off the East Coast of the U.S., from which the drones were launched.
