Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, sought for the United Nations to intervene to investigate the funding and training of Boko Haram terrorists, who have been plaguing the region for years. Such an investigation would include probing the international flows of funds and arms that are beyond the control of Nigeria.
“The problem is that I think, we have talked to the international community. Let’s find out the funding.Let’s find out the funding. As we speak, over 120,000 Boko Haram members have surrendered, and most of them came with hard currency. How did they get it? How are they funded? How did they get the training? How did they get the equipment?” Musa told “Talk to Al Jazeera”“Talk to Al Jazeera” podcast on Jan. 5, whose host Neave Barker could do well to work for the BBC.
“How are they being able to sustain themselves for 15 years? That is one question I think everybody should ask themselves.” He even went on to say that it must be investigated whether there is an international conspiracy behind these groups. But he was unable to give details, implying an investigation of the financing might reveal an answer.
