In a statement issued yesterday, the Russian Ministry of Defense charged that the “Kiev regime does not stop provocations to create a threat of a man-made disaster at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.”
“On 5 January, the AFU made another attempt to attack the Zaporozhye NPP and Energodar (Zaporozhye region) by eight fixed-wing UAVs,” the statement says. “Air defense systems shot down all unmanned aerial vehicles. When one of the downed drones fell, it exploded and caught fire on the roof of the Zaporozhye NPP training center.”
Otherwise, the statement indicates that no other damage was inflicted on the plant and related facilities, that radiation levels remained normal, and that no casualties were recorded among plant workers or other civilians.
